Microservices Architecture with Node.js
Enterprise Microservices with Node.js
Node.js is uniquely positioned for Microservices architecture due to its minuscule memory footprint, incredibly fast cold-start times, and asynchronous I/O prowess.
Domain Driven Design
Microservices fundamentally dictate that a system is fractured into distinct business domains. Each microservice should adhere to the Single Responsibility Principle, possessing complete autonomy over its deployment lifecycle and database layer (Decentralized Data Management).
Crucial Patterns
- API Gateway: Acts as the single point of entry for clients, handling cross-cutting concerns like JWT authentication, SSL termination, and rate-limiting before routing requests to internal microservices.
- Circuit Breaker: To prevent cascading failures, a Circuit Breaker monitors external API calls. If failures cross a threshold, the circuit 'opens', short-circuiting requests instantly and returning a fallback response until the failing service recovers.
